Westside Housing & Economic Network, Inc.
The Westside Housing & Economic Network (WHEN) was established in 2003 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created to build and renovate affordable farmworker housing and to create a socially and economically self-sustaining community near Five Points in the westside area of California’s San Joaquin Valley.WHEN has a local facility located in Five Points that severs as the community center hub for training, technology access, and staff support for housing issues. WHEN manages an annual budget of approximately $150,000 per year in grant funding through USDA and private donors.
The Westside Housing & Economic Network has ten (10) members on the board of Directors that serve as the current grassroots community-based organization (CBO) leadership team. These local residents represent the community in which they live as farmworkers, educators, and parents of a predominantly Hispanic area.
Westside Housing & Economic Network, Inc. (WHEN) has extensive and accomplishments in administration and management of housing projects. The WHEN Executive Director has over twenty (20) years of management experience, with eight (8) years of administration leadership in Five Points area. He is responsible for oversight of all WHEN programs, policy and systems development with the Board of Directors and implementation and review of organizational finances and administration. A volunteer Board of Directors with ten (10) members provides the overall leadership for the organization. They are responsible for setting policy, approving the annual budget and authorize community funding allocations, approving all contracts, and providing administrative, financial, and legal oversight.
The Westside Housing & Economic Network, Inc. (WHEN) is a non-profit organization that functions to obtain federal, state, local, and private funding to pursue the goals of projects. The organization is a network of individuals and agencies who have a stake in the development of affordable farmworker housing and self-sustaining community in the westside area of the San Joaquin Valley.
