PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL COMMUNITY TRAINING
CEC coordinates and offers community training in order to assist location community members with their personal and professional goals. At this time, training is being offered in the following areas:
- Plaza Comunitaria (Education in Spanish from Literacy to Secondary Educational Levels) in partnership with the Fresno County Mexican Consulate
- Conversational English
- Parenting in partnership with Fresno County
- General Education Diploma (GED) in partnership with SER Jobs for Progress
- Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) in partnership with West Hills College
- Basic Computer Skills (Internet, Word, and Excel)
- Community Involvement and Leadership Development
YOUTH LEADERSHIP
CEC is currently sponsoring the Coalinga Youth Council that assists local youth with community service training in the areas of design, partnership development, resource assessments, planning, and project implementation skills.
YOUTH ACTIVITIES
Throughout the academic school year CEC partners with Pleasant Valley Christian Center and Coalinga-Huron Parks & Recreation District to provide after school and holiday arts, crafts, and activities for community youth. In addition, during the summer months CEC provides a food services and activities Summer Program for youth in Olsen Park from 12-1 p.m. in partnership with EOC. CEC is offering Summer Arts & Crafts Activities for youth every Wednesday from 11-12p.m. also at Olsen Park.
CULTURAL ARTS
CEC currently has youth folkloric dance classes offered by Dolores Carrillo at West Hills Community College on a weekly basis.
